The Syracuse and Central New York National Traffic System (NTS) net has integrated new digital message handling capabilities into its daily operations. The net, which handles health-and-welfare traffic as well as formal administrative messages, now supports hybrid Winlink-to-CW and NBEMS (Narrow Band Emergency Messaging Software) routing.
This integration enables operators in Onondaga, Cayuga, and Oswego counties to quickly forward digital traffic to regional and national NTS hubs even during degraded HF band conditions.
“Digital traffic handling allows us to move long-form messages with 100% accuracy in fractions of a second,” noted Section Traffic Manager Jim Brown (N2NTS). “Training our local operators on digital NTS workflows prepares Western New York for high-volume emergency communications.”
Net reports and daily operating schedules are published regularly under the WNY Net Reports section.
